Whenever EA publishes a game, I immediately cast a cynical eye on it. But this time, an unlikely partnership with Koei Tecmo has given us a weirdly exciting game that is actually fun – Wild Hearts.
The game is inspired by the Monster Hunter franchise, where you are tasked with fighting gigantic monsters. However, Wild Hearts adds a unique twist by incorporating a Fortnite-like building mechanic, allowing players to construct obstacles to aid during the fight. The building mechanic takes some time to get used to, but it adds a whole new dimension to the game, making it more interesting and enjoyable.
As with any game, there is a learning curve. The building mechanic can be tricky at first, but I can see myself getting used to it and experimenting more in the full game. The game’s aesthetic is also noteworthy, featuring a colorful and vibrant world that is pleasing to the eye.
I played the 10-hour trial of Wild Hearts, which in reality is around a 2-hour trial, or even less if you are a skilled player. The rest of the time, you can only repeat the fights you have already finished or buy the full game. I look forward to trying out the full experience once EA adds it to the EA Vault/Game Pass catalogue.
